While domestic fuel sales in Turkey rose to approximately 29.5 million tons in 2022, the traditional leader of the industry remained unchanged.
Petrol Ofisi, Turkey's energy infrastructure group, ended 2022 with a market share of 22.43 percent in total domestic sales, maintaining its absolute leadership in the last year.
The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) published the "Petroleum Market Industry Report of 2022". Based on the data in the report, Petrol Ofisi Group both increased its sales and raised its market share to 22.43% with 6.6 million tons of domestic sales in 2022 compared to the previous year.
Petrol Ofisi Group CEO Mehmet Abbasoğlu says, "We left another year behind in which we proudly maintained our leadership in the fuel oil market. In March, PETDER confirmed our leadership in the lubricants and total chemicals market for the 13th time. As Petrol Ofisi Group, we will continue to produce services and technologies that will lead the industry."
"Petrol Ofisi Group will continue to be the pioneer of energy transformation" says Abbasoğlu addressing the global conjuncture of the energy industry and adds, "Global energy markets want everything at the same time, so to speak. On the one hand, demand for oil is hitting record highs, reaching 2 million barrels a day. On the other hand, the expected capacity expansion in renewable energy by the end of the year is reported at 400 gigabytes, which is also a record. Moreover, the number of electric vehicles is expected to increase by at least 35 percent by the end of 2023. We have critical responsibilities regarding the impacts of these dynamics on Turkey. We have been deepening our holistic and innovative efforts on conventional, transitional and sustainable energy sources in all our air, marine and land operations. We will continue to build on our leadership in Turkey's energy infrastructure."
